Birthday
Birthdays are funny things - very mixed blessings. They remind you that you're one year closer to the end of your life while also inspiring gratitude for all the great things that you've experienced so far. They are a time when attention is bestowed upon you, whether you like it or not, and when people send gifts, cards and messages to tell you how much they care. Again, this can be a mixed blessing, especially when I receive birthday wishes from people and wonder why they haven't bothered to get in touch up until now.
Ah well, here I am on the other side of my 20's. And I must say that turning 30 today is a very weird experience. In some ways I feel I ought to mourn the end of my twenties but, as a friend of mine just said on the phone (he is also turning 30 in a couple of days), it's nice to move on. Cheers to that, I say!
